On 4 th of June, together with TAPA EMEA association (TAPA EMEA), we have organized Security Supply Chain conference, which took place in the middle of Krakow old town in Novotel Centrum Hotel. Such event was organized in Poland for the first time and TAPA EMEA has dedicated its regional conference to logistic security problems in East-Central Europe. 

 

We were trying to present logistic security problems from many different perspectives. We had TAPA EMEA as a company which creates international logistic security standards (TSR / FSR) that many companies would like to achieve. LRQA company, who specialize in auditing and implementing TAPA TSR / FSR standards certifications. There were also speeches delivered by representatives of companies who offer logistic security systems like GE Veriwise producing telematics solutions or manufacture’s company like Dell - Hi Tech branch leader who achieved high level logistic security standards to ship their goods safely all over the world. We have also invited police speaker to tell us some more about transport crimes committed in our region.

The TAPA EMEA & SASMA conference has applied for the nowadays challenges of supply chain managing in Europe. With over € 8bn of losses each year in Europe we have considered this as crucial that professionals involved or exposed in this area get together to share knowledge and learn from each other and experts.

All topics were various and interesting, participants were involved in asking questions to speakers and discussing particular problems. We were trying to show how important is to follow appropriate standards of security of the supply chain and how to minimize the risk of potential losses. Speakers have shown the solutions which are in use in their companies to avoid crimes against their goods and damage on the company name or brand name.

During the first presentation Mark Schwarz spoke about TAPA organization, its activities and objectives and he presented the power of TAPA and benefits of joining this organization as a member. After that Ilona Sobul presented SASMA EUROPE company, its activities, fields of interest in the safety and security branch and trainings and consultancy offer. Standards FSR and TSR have been discussed by Mark Schwarz from TAPA EMEA and Leszek Sitkowski from LRQA company, the company implementing the TAPA certification.

During the next part of conference we could watch presentations delivered by international companies such as GE and Dell. Przemyslaw Dutkiewicz presentation was very instructive, showing the latest telematics solutions offered by GE Veriwise to protect load. Strong interest has created a presentation showing Dell's model of practice in logistic security area.

The last point of view was shown in Miroslaw Gruszeczka presentation on the challenges facing in front of Polish police during the last 20 years. Variety and amount of transport crimes was increasing in parallel with the development of freight forwarding and logistics base in our region. Presented statistics of crimes and risky incidents aroused particular interest among the participants.

Whilst organizing timeframe for the conference we took under consideration that this meeting is not supposed to be only about listening and watching the speakers' presentations. We were also concentrating on guaranteeing our guests enough time for networking, business relationships building. During the conference all guests have devoted a lot of spare time for exchanging experiences, points of views and ideas for security and logistic security solutions. We are very glad that together with TAPA EMEA we manage to gather in Krakow not only experts from Poland but also from abroad.
 

We would like to thank all guests and speakers for attending this conference. We strongly believe that we will have some more similar opportunities to meet each other in the future.

Our attendees were representatives from many multinational companies operating in such branches as manufacture, dispatch, forwarding, logistics, security and other.
